The Turkish Republic of North Cyprus can be reached by sea or air. From the UK the main airline is KTHY (Kibris Turk Hava Yollari or Cyprus Turkish Airlines). Flights go from Heathrow, Gatwick, Stanstead, Manchester, Glasgow and Dublin. Their telephone no. is 0870 600 1123 and they can be found on the web at www.kthy.net. You can also fly with Turkish Airlines or Onur Air. Now the border between the north and south of the island is open it is possible to fly directly to Larnaca on a variety of low cost budget airlines.

You do not need a Visa to visit Northern Cyprus but you will require a valid passport with at least 6 months left to run. If you enter Cyprus on the Greek side of the border you will be required to complete a Visa form when you cross over.
The main language in Northern Cyprus is Turkish, however almost all of the Turkish Cypriots know enough English to get by and many speak it fluently.
The local currency in Northern Cyprus is the Turkish Lira. Generally you will get a better rate of exchange if you change your UK Sterling over there. Most of the local shops and restaurants will also accept Sterling and many places will now take credit and debit cards. There are many Banks and Exchange Bureau in all towns and cities.
The electrical system in Northern Cyprus is exactly the same as in the UK and all home appliances work normally.
Although some of the water is considered safe to drink it is strongly recommended that you use bottled water, which is readily available in all shops and restaurants.
You drive on the left exactly the same as in the UK You will need a valid UK or other National Domestic Driving Licence to be able to hire a car. Most car rental companies will not hire cars to anyone under the age of 25.
